The Indian Expat Society in collaboration with amsterdam inbusiness are organising the "Little India in Amsterdam" symposium on 25 November 2010, hosted by ABN AMRO.
The aim of the symposium is to provide essential information to Indian expats about living and working in the Netherlands. Mr. Kumar of the Embassy of India, The Hague (Netherlands), will give a speech during the symposium.
Many people from the public and private sectors are expected to attend the symposium. Mr. Van der Laan, Mayor of Amsterdam, will also give a speech.
Amstelveen, part of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, is particularly popular among Indian expats. Lavesh Lakhina, president of the Indian Expat Society, called Amstelveen the “Little India” of the Netherlands in an interview. Over the past four years, the number of Indian expats in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area has grown to 4,000 people .
Half of the Indian firms active in the Netherlands are based in the Amsterdam area. Indian companies such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys Technology have set up European and Benelux head offices in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. They tend to bring key staff with them.
