Korean electronics manufacturer LG moves their business to business marketing division to Amstelveen where a strong Korean community already thrives.
LG Electronics, the Korean manufacturer of electronic products, have moved their business-to-business marketing division to their European headquarters in Amstelveen (part of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area).
"The official start of the new activities in the Amstelveen office was 1 January, but practically the division will be fully operational by mid February", says Mr. Bjorn Berg Andersen, President Benelux sales of LG.
The division will be located in the same building where the current European headquarters of LG is situated in Amstelveen. "This new organisation is in charge of business solutions for Europe", explains Berg Andersen.
In 2009, LG decided to move its European headquarters to Amstelveen where it plans to employ up to 130 people as a part of the aggressive growth strategy of the company. LG wants to be number one in all markets it serves from mobile phones and consumer electronics to refrigerators.
In an interview with the Dutch newspaper Het Parool Bjorn Berg Andersen says that one of the main reasons to move to Amstelveen is the availability of highly skilled and talented marketing professionals. The addition of the business-to-business marketing division to the activities of the Amstelveen office fits perfectly in the strategy to be close to marketing professionals.
Besides, the expansion of the headquarters of this Korean company illustrates the attractiveness of the Amsterdam area for Korean expats.
An interesting fact is that no less than 33 Korean companies have established in this area, while more than 450 Koreans live in Amstelveen.
Many of the facilities in the area are focused on expats in general, with several specific Korean facilities such as the Korean Saturday school, which is thriving tremendously. Furthermore, the Korean Church is established in Amstelveen.
