As of 1 March 2010, Japanese expatriates coming to the Amstelland Hospital in Amstelveen (part of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area) can make use of a new Japanese medical service desk.
The creation of the desk was initiated by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, AON insurance company and amsterdam inbusiness. The desk will serve as a single point of contact for Japanese patients. It will assist these patients in their own language, fulfilling the need for a more tailored approach in servicing the Japanese community.
To make an appointment with a specialist in the hospital, patients may simply call the medical support desk and they will set up the appointment. Upon arrival at the Amstelland Hospital, a representative will escort patients to the appropriate doctor for the appointment, and help with follow-up appointments and medical prescriptions.
The Amstelland Hospital currently offers Japanese expatriates the possibility to call a dedicated phone number to make appointments. The number, 025 1263313 (regular telephone charges apply) is open 24 hours a day with an English-speaking operator. The operator takes care of the intake only and can arrange an appointment, but is not there to give medical advice.
The quality of life in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is a strong influence for companies seeking to expand in the European market, and is strengthened by providing specialised services, such as the new Japanese medical desk.
