Indian cricket event 2011

India’s ties to the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area will receive a sporty boost on 3 September 2011 when the Netherlands Indian community comes together at the VRA Cricket Club for the 5th annual India Day cricket tournament.

Not only is it an occasion where India's passion for cricket can be unleashed but it’s also a great opportunity for the community to network and socialise. The tournament will take place at the VRA Cricket Club grounds in Amstelveen.

It is a family event and participation is free of charge. The event is organised annually by amsterdam inbusiness and over the past four years has proven to be a very popular event, with hundreds of people attending. This year, 650 Indian expats have already registered to attend. 

Cocktails and conversation

During the final few over’s there will be an opportunity to network and socialise at a cocktail party hosted by amsterdam inbusiness. Guests will hear a speech by her excellency Mrs. Bhaswati Mukherjee, the Indian ambassador to the Netherlands and by Mr. Jan van Zanen, mayor of Amstelveen.

Indian community in the Amsterdam Area

The Indian community is the fastest growing foreign business community in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. The outstanding quality of life on offer to Indian expats in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is a strong incentive for companies seeking to expand into the European market. The growing number of Indian expats in the Amsterdam Area highlighted the need for amsterdam inbusiness to further enhance their quality of life.

This annual cricket event is one example of how amsterdam inbusiness is helping Indian expats feel at home. Other examples include:

  • The Diwali Festival, co-sponsored by amsterdam inbusiness is also held in Amstelveen. The festival includes Indian dance music, cultural activities, Indian food and ends with a spectacular fireworks display. It was a huge success in 2010, with thousands of Indian expats in attendance.
