Almere's Esplanade will transform into mini-Taiwan on 19 June with sports events, music, a VIP lunch and the highlight of the day, the spectacular Dragon Boat races held between 10.00 and 14.00.
amsterdam inbusiness and the city of Almere (part of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area) are the hosts of the second Dragon Boat Event in Almere's Esplanade.
Last year a 15-strong delegation from the Taiwanese city of Tainan visited Almere especially for the dragon boat event and visited numerous projects of interest in Almere.
This year, all Taiwanese companies in the Netherlands are invited to visit Almere and join the dragon boat races held through the morning and early afternoon. In addition to guest teams from Taiwanese companies, other corporate teams will be present, as will racing teams from the Dutch Dragon Boat Federation, as the day is regarded as an official race day in the federation’s national schedule.
The races can be seen on a 28m² screen and interviews will be held with officials and other participants. Mr King Liu, founder and CEO of Giant Bicycles, will visit Almere together with a Taiwanese delegation and have a meet and greet with fellow countrymen and women from Taiwan. A VIP-lunch in the VIP tent at the square will be available for official guests and sponsors.
Early in the afternoon, starting at 13.30, guests can watch the World Cup soccer match between the Netherlands and Japan on the large screen while several other sport events will be organised throughout the day. The Esplanade will also be the stage for the Almere 'Jazz Below The Sea' festival, first at 15:30 and again later in the evening, with numerous jazz bands and performers.
