Amsterdam Area tops economic performance ranking
Recent research has concluded that businesses based in the Amsterdam Area profited the most noticeably from the general economic recovery in 2010 to become the best performing economic region in the Netherlands.
An export hotspot
The research carried out by the Rabobank noted that companies that are active in export-orientated sectors performed especially well, playing a significant role in increasing the region’s profit and production as well as investment in the Amsterdam Area.

A number of characteristics of the Amsterdam Area also facilitate and encourage strong economic growth, such as a high concentration of companies that are active in the professional and financial services sectors and a healthy labour pool featuring a relatively high percentage of highly educated workers and noticeably high productivity.

The characteristics of the Amsterdam Area that facilitate strong economic growth also increase the region’s appeal to international companies. Due to its strategic location, the region is ideally suited to be a base of operations for companies planning on entering the European market.
