The renowned Business Engineering School (BES) La Salle plans to establish a facility in Almere, opening in February 2012. The Spanish university and the city of Almere recently signed a cooperative agreement that will see a diverse array of students utilising the city for its business programmes.
BES La Salle is renowned for its university programmes in management, engineering, architecture and entrepreneurship, combined with a strong international perspective and an advanced implementation of technologies for business innovation. Upon its launch in Almere in February 2012, the university will offer a number of Executive Courses, followed soon after by various master’s programmes in the area of Business Administration (MBA).
BES La Salle is part of a network of 74 universities all over the world and encourages students to participate in short study courses abroad. The institution anticipates that its study programmes will attract both Dutch students and scholars from across North-West Europe.
With the addition of BES La Salle, Almere hopes to increase its attraction to international residents. On 15 September 2011, the new building of the International School Almere was officially opened by alderperson René Peeters, reflecting Almere’s growing ambition to expand its reach to the international community.
The City of Almere hopes to entice more international companies to the area by providing dynamic work, living and study environments for its multicultural residents. Almere is just 25 minutes from Amsterdam and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and is one of the fastest growing cities in the Netherlands. There are currently more than 100 non-Dutch companies present in Almere. Given the increasing rate of newcomers to the city, its plans for rapid growth are looking firmly on track.
