Amsterdam has been selected as the most business friendly city in Europe. Following on from selections as both fifth smartest in the world and fifth greenest city in europe, This reinforces the attractiveness of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area as a region full of opportunities for international businesses.
The ranking as most business friendly city in Europe, according to FDI Magazine, comes as part of their yearly 'Cities and Regions of the Future' shortlists.
The shortlists in several categories covering 223 European cities and 142 European regions are created from an independent collection of data by FDI Benchmark.
In the business friendly shortlist, Amsterdam tops the list, indicating the city scores high in terms of the number of jobs that are created by foreign direct investments (FDI), growth of high-tech and knowledge intensive firms and the ease of doing business.
Other categories in which Amsterdam scores high is the general top ten of large European cities (large here refers to a population of between 500,000 and 1 million people). Amsterdam is the second most attractive large city, directly behind Frankfurt.
