On 15 September, the new building of the International School Almere was officially opened by alderperson René Peeters. The opening of the school highlights Almere’s growing ambition to expand its reach to the international community.
The new, multi-purpose school building will allow students to study in an international environment. Adrian Kearney, the regional manager of the International Baccalaureate Organisation spoke at the opening. The event was attended by students, their parents and the alderperson of Almere, responsible for education, René Peeters.
The sustainably constructed school is located in Cascade Park, Almere Poort.
The City of Almere hopes to attract more international companies to the area by providing dynamic work, living and study environments for its multinational residents. The new school campus is able to accommodate up to 300 students, making it an important initiative in the city’s long term goals.
Almere is just 25 minutes from Amsterdam and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and is one of the fastest growing cities in The Netherlands. There are currently over 100 non-Dutch companies present in Almere. Given the increasing rate of newcomers to the city, plans for rapid growth are looking firmly on track.
