An introduction, a statement of inclusion, a catchcry and a physical icon - I amsterdam has moved beyond a motto and into the city's collective psyche.

The large I amsterdam letters at the Museumplein, in front of the Rijksmuseum, have become one of the most photographed spots in Amsterdam. They are a favourite for visitors to be photographed with, in, around and on top of, and always spawn the novice photographer to get creative.

At more than 2 metres tall and, when all lined up, they measure over 23,5 metres wide.
