English-speaking Amsterdammers have a handy number to call to ask all their civic-related questions. An English version of the '14 020' service was launched last year putting operators on hand to answer questions in English.

Since 2006, the City of Amsterdam has had a central information number, 14 020. The idea behind the service is to provide a single point for all Amsterdam residents and businesses to get information from the municipality as well as to register complaints. 14 020, part of the digital service Loket Amsterdam, is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 18:00.
Most inquiries on such topics as construction, marriage services, parking tariffs, taxes, and other civic matters will be answered directly. For specialised topics, staff can transfer callers to the relevant department.
