The Amsterdam Light Festival looks set to return to Amsterdam this festive season, (literally) putting the beautiful city centre and its canals in the limelight.
Festival of light
Centred on the theme of ‘Building with Light’, the 2013 edition featured a canal cruise and walking route taking in a selection of spectacular illuminated artworks. An extensive side programme also saw a host of activities and events take place at museums, theatres, restaurants, shops and other locations in Amsterdam.
Walking route: Illuminade
The Illuminade offered a spectacular evening walk through the enchanting Plantage neighbourhood of Amsterdam, where illuminated artworks were especially installed for the festival. Featuring established names alongside up-and-coming talent in the field, the open-air exhibition stayed open for nearly a month.
