Zandvoort

Fondly nick-named 'Amsterdam by the Sea', Zandvoort offers an abundance of nature that is a popular attraction for visitors, tourists, and a thriving tourism sector.

Amsterdam by the Sea
‘Amsterdam by the Sea’ is the boast of the Municipality of Zandvoort, which enjoys no fewer than nine kilometres of sandy beach flanked by rolling dunes. Within the municipal boundaries one finds the protected 2,500-hectare National Park Zuid-Kennemerland and a 3,300-hectare nature reserve, the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen (Amsterdam Water Board Dunes),
where the Dutch capital’s drinking water is filtered through the natural sand dunes to achieve a purity reputed to rival spring water. Both are open to visitors, with a network of walking and cycling paths amidst beautiful surroundings.

Holiday Destination
With a population of 17,000 people, there are some 3,100 full-time jobs in Zandvoort, and more than half of these are in the tourism sector. Zandvoort attracts about 4.3 million visitors per year, about 25 percent from other European countries, especially Germany. Visitors can choose from 70 hotels and about 170 bed and breakfast establishments, as well as numerous rental properties, a bungalow park and campsites, and there are no fewer than 70 restaurants and almost 90 bars. During the summer season there are almost 40 beach pavilions, so there is plenty of entertainment, and for those who like a hand of blackjack or a tipple on roulette there are the glamorous surroundings of Zandvoort’s Holland Casino.

Circuit Park Zandvoort
Another unique Zandvoort attraction is the racing circuit, Circuit Park Zandvoort, where car classes up to international Masters of Formula 3 hold race events, attracting tens of thousands of enthusiasts. Modern car classes that race here include the McGregor Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, the Seat Cupra Cup, the Dunlop SportMaxx Clio Cup, Formula Renault and Formula Ford, but there are also events for historic cars, such as MG competitions, Youngtimer and Oldtimer races.
