The Scheepvaarthuis (Shipping House) is regarded as an architectural masterpiece of the Amsterdamse School. Architect Van der Mey built it in 1913 for the Amsterdam shipping companies. It’s interior is of an extraordinary beauty, to which many artists such as Krop, Kramer and De Klerk contributed.
Now it is the first class Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam. If you didn’t book a room, year-round you can enjoy it’s interior and lunch, afternoon tea, or just a drink in the Bar-Lounge. Indulge yourselves and have dinner in the heart of The Shipping House, restaurant Seven Seas.
The lobby, bar-lounge, restaurant and the grand staircase are accessible for non-hotel residents. Experts of Amsterdamse School Museum "Het Schip" arrange a full architectural guided tour every Sunday.
