Netherlands Media Art Institute, Montevideo/Time Based Art

The Netherlands Media Art Institute (NIMk) in Amsterdam promotes the wide development, usage and distribution of new technologies in visual arts. The Netherlands Media Art Institute provides extensive services for artists and art institutions. It also holds frequent exhibitions and educational activities.

Collection
The Netherlands Media Art Institute has an extensive collection of video and media art. In addition to its own collection, the Institute also manages the collections of the De Appel Foundation, the Lijnbaan Center in Rotterdam and the Netherlands Institute for Cultural heritage. The Groninger Museum and the Kröller Müller Museum collections can also be viewed here.

Exhibitions
The Netherlands Media Art Institute presents four main exhibitions per year, highlighting artists who work with video, film, internet and other technological media. As well as showing rising young talent, NIMk also hosts famed international artists, such as Marina Abramovic, John Bock en Cory Arcangel. Short exhibitions and performances are also held throughout the year.
