Jewish Historical Museum

Nieuwe Amstelstraat 1
1011 PL AMSTERDAM
Umgebung: Rembrandtplein

The Jewish Historical Museum (Joods Historisch Museum) is located in the centre of Amsterdam's former Jewish quarter. Housed in four 17th and 18th century High-German synagogues, the permanent exhibition reflects the versatility of Judaism in the present and the past. The Museum also has its own children's Museum.

On display
The Jewish Historical Museum collects objects and works of art associated with the religion, culture and history of Jews and Judaism in the Netherlands and its former colonies. The museum has over 11,000 works of art, ceremonial items and historical objects.

More artefacts
Only five percent of the museum's artefacts are on permanent display. The rest are stored in a depot and occasionally shown in exhibitions, or lent to other museums. The objects in this hidden collection can be viewed via the website.
