Alida Hoeve Cheese Farm / De Vriendschap Clog Makers

At the farm "Alida Hoeve" in Volendam, they make Gouda cheese according to an old recipe. Throughout the whole year they make cheese from the milk of their fifty cows. In Holland there are only about 700 farmers who are still making cheese. The farm is open for visitors to see this unique handicraft. You will be given an explanation in your own language about the cheese making process. And of course you'll have the opportunity to taste and buy the cheese.

You can reach the Alida Hoeve by following route N 247 from Amsterdam, via Broek in Waterland, Monnickendam and then after two kilometres turn right towards Volendam. After 1 kilometre you will see the "Alida Hoeve" on your left hand side.

Visit the delightful traditional Wooden Shoe Factory “De Vriendschap” in Volendam (next to the Alida Hoeve Cheese Farm). Here you can see how wooden shoes are made out of a piece of wood. Wooden Shoe Factory “De Vriendschap” is open all year round from 8.30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Free admission.
